The home and business are "metered" off 2 separate electric company meters to enable accurate tax accounting for business expenses. Both the residence and the business are wired for both 240V appliances, as well as the normal 110V circuits.

All wall outlets are modern, grounded and polarized 3-prong types.

The entire structure is protected from a lightning-strike possibly resulting from an electrical storm, through the installed, UL specified, storm arrestor system. There are 4 lightning "spikes" installed on the roof, plus 1 on each chimney-stack, each 3 wired to a separate 6 ft deep, copper ground-stake.

Heating is provided by gas-fired water, baseboard units.

There are 2 separate natural gas-fired burners, one for the residence side, the other for the office side of the structure. Both the residence and the office are temperature controlled by 2 separate zones, 1 for the downstairs and the other for the upstairs on each side. All 4 of the thermostats are digital, clock-controlled, programmable set-back units, that can be programmed for multiple episodes for each day and separate schedules for weekdays and weekends for maximum comfort and energy saving.

The hotwater system is an advanced, expensive, "tankless" energy-saving, On-Demand type system providing continuous hotwater based on demand. The hot water is heated by a tube running through the heating burner, which comes on when hot water is needed and shuts off when turned off. Thus no hot water is stored and kept hot in a tank, while reheated constantly waiting to be used. Instead its only heated as needed offering significant efficiency and energy savings.
